Since our beginning in 1999, Back to the Underground has substantially evolved from a Toronto hip hop event organization to a well known authentic hip hop association. Today, we work in relation with countless b-boys, disc jockeys, emcees and graffiti artists to develop genuine events. At Back to the Underground, we dream of finding a means of preserving the culture and speaking as a single voice for the entire community. Coupled with dedication, professionalism and our committed and culturally immersed staff, we hope to deter misconceptions and promote positive and authentic hip hop.
Our staff is immersed in the culture. We use our travelling opportunties to acquire knowledge from other event promoters and we constantly gather feedback from our own events in order to increase our authenticity. Our team has discovered that every aspect of hip hop has many unique characteristics, however with it there are also misconceptions. Back to the Underground creates and executes many projects with the edge of authentic music, vibe and feel by integrating a balance of b-boying, emceeing, graffiti and djs.
