Back to the Underground and Toronto Parks and Recreation worked together in order to hold the first St.Lawrence Community Centre B-boy event. On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the community flowed in to watch and participate in the event, the event drew people in as the dancers competed for first prize.

The event was called, “Keep Your Friends Close and Your Enemies Closer”. This name represented an innovative battle concept that paired solo dancers at random to compete in a 2 on 2 style bracket. Once the competition was down to it's first place pair, they split to do battle again for the final winner.

The community response was overwhelming! The families and children who were walking by stayed for the whole event captivated by the spectacle. Countless requests were made for more information regarding the dance and similar future events. As a result, Toronto Parks and Recreation was so pleased they raised the budget and decided to have B2DU hold the event annually.

Special thanks to Katie Lee for the photos.
